About Shane
Throughout his career, Shane has ministered extensively as a spiritual director, retreat leader, faith resource writer, and adult faith formation course provider. He has served in a variety of Catholic dioceses and agencies, and for the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference as the director of the Catholic Enquiry Centre and the National Centre for Evangelisation.
Shane received his initial training as a spiritual director in 1994 with the Jesuits at Canisius College in Pymble, Sydney.
He commenced this training having previously completed his undergraduate studies in Catholic theology and its related disciplines (Bachelor of Theology, 1989, Sydney College of Divinity) and a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB, 1990, Angelicum University, Rome).
Shane subsequently completed a Licentiate in Sacred Theology specialising in Christian Spirituality (STL, 1998, Gregorian University, Rome), which included attention to the art of spiritual direction and the leading of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. His licentiate thesis was on the spiritual direction of ‘the idealist’.
He is in the final stages of a doctoral thesis on the application of the teachings of St John of the Cross on the dynamics of the Christian spiritual life to the contemporary concern for authenticity. (DTheol: University of Divinity, Melbourne)
Shane is married and lives in Moreton Bay, Southeast Queensland.
